Finally my Art Therapy class starts up again today. Boy oh boy I’ve missed these ladies. I update them on my diagnosis and prognosis and they are all super supportive. I cry as I do whenever anyone expresses sympathy or kindness but with these ladies we are soon chatting and joking as normal. It’s fabulous!

The facilitators have decided on a garden theme for the year. The week’s art project is about transition from 2023 to 2024. What challenges did we face in 2023 (obvious) and what we hope to bring about in 2024. We have chatted too long so don’t have much actual art time. I choose charcoal as a quick medium and crudely draw myself underground in 2023, curled up and trying to protect myself. My left arm is raised and I burst through the earth into 2024 at the top half of the picture. My hand is in a fist, fighting and remaining strong and powerful. That is my wish.

We spend the afternoon cleaning up the house in preparation for Susannah’s sister and brother-in-law’s arrival from Canada. We have not seen them since we left Vancouver in 2019 so I’m very excited.

In the afternoon a lovely care package arrives from my Scherp cousins and Uncle (mostly Wellington based). It is an extremely thoughtful gift and contains healthy (vegetarian and vegan!) gummies, Turkey Tail mushroom extract and some natural potions and lotions. I’d actually been looking into mushroom extracts recently so this is the perfect time for this gift. Thank you Scherpies!
