We are going to the beach! We made a list of things we wanted to do this week and Susannah wrote that she wanted to dip her feet in the ocean. So, after a bit of online research, we decide to drive the van out to Maraetai where we can get our feet wet and also check out Omana Regional Park as a potential camping location.

The beach is ok. It’s practically empty and Susannah does a bit of a paddle. I decline. Too cold. The Park is a bit weird, not really at the beach, not particularly nicely laid out, and completely rain sodden. We cross it off the list. Still, it is a nice day out, not too far to drive, and we explore somewhere new. Win!

It’s been a weird 3 weeks since surgery. I’m still in a lot of pain and have extremely limited movement on my left side. Despite this I’m feeling in a better space than before. With Big Betty gone I can almost forget about cancer. I haven’t had any appointments so it’s been a bit of a break from the endless consultations, treatments and tests. I know it won’t last though and that it’s likely to get even harder when I head back to Oncology next week.

For now though I’m taking my Cancer Holiday and running with it.
