I wake feeling ok but within half an hour I am shaking uncontrollably and in a lot of pain. Where did this pain come from? It’s my back and my left leg. My belly hurts again as well. I feel very dehydrated. I take pills which help a little but I’m still not doing well. Susannah calls the clinic nurses. They advise us to come in, get fluids and get assessed by Dr Sk.

We go to HCC and I am greeted warmly by the staff, my bloods are taken and I’m hooked up to fluids. Dr Sk comes to see me. She is concerned about my leg and spine pain as well as my digestive issues but she says it’s hard to tell what is a side effect from chemo and what could be attributed the cancer. She decides that I should be booked in for an urgent CT scan to see what is happening inside. For my pain now I am given an OxyNorm as the Tramadol is clearly not cutting it.

My bloodwork comes back and shows further liver function decline. This is not good. I am booked in at Henderson ARO for tomorrow for the scan. I’m not looking forward to it but we need to know.

It’s Valentine’s Day and we would normally have a special meal together to celebrate. Today however I just can’t eat so I spend the evening lying on the sofa, with Susannah rubbing my belly to ease the pain. I think worst Valentine’s Day ever, and then realise how lucky I am to actually still be here and to have Susannah with me.
