It’s simple tasks today – blood tests pre-chemo – these will now become weekly again. Prescription fulfilment for chemo – more steroids, yuk! A port flush with the District Nurses – I almost cancel this as it’s only about a week until chemo starts but decide to go ahead to ensure Murphy’s Law doesn’t get in my way. Luckily my port behaves well with no blockages and I should be good to go.

Yv calls again with an update that my Feb 22 Oncology appointment has been moved forward to February 1 and will be with Dr Sk. This is great as at least my consultations should be consistent from now on.

At home things are very quiet. Susannah is having a bad day. I think it’s related more to changes at work than life at home. She is quiet and distant. Later in the day she apologises and says she hasn’t been a good support person today. It makes me very aware of how much of a toll this whole thing is having on her. She’s an amazing support person! I want her to know that she’s allowed to feel things too, and not just about cancer, and that sometimes she has to put her needs first.

I don’t want Betty to take over our lives but it feels like she and her minions already have. That’s another battle we have to fight.
