Hi, I’m Leanne and I have Breast Cancer. My world was flipped upside down when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in May 2023. I named my tumour Big Betty and she has been a complete bitch. It’s a really weird feeling when you realise that your left boob is trying to kill you.

Navigating through cancer is an emotional, physical, and mental rollercoaster and it has been nothing like I expected it to be. The highs and lows are extreme and the trauma is real. There are also some great opportunities for personal growth and change, but you just don’t know when they’ll come along.
I’ve been writing all the way through and have decided to openly share my experiences with you. It’s nothing profound, just my day to day Cancer Life. I also write some very bad haiku. Despite this, I hope reading my story helps. Jump in anywhere but if you want to read from the beginning start with Friday, 14 April 2023. if you want to easily stay up to date, you can subscribe here.
If you are here and you have Breast Cancer, or you are a Survivor, then you will already understand that although the fight is the same, the path we walk is an individual one, and everyone going through it will have their own unique experiences and challenges.
If you are waiting on a diagnosis or have just received a Breast Cancer diagnosis, I know you are scared. Always remember that you do not fight alone, you are held by other Pink Warriors. This Breast Cancer Club is the one that no one wants to join, but we are here for each other. and we are stronger together. I hope somewhere in my blog you will find hope, or humour, or both! My story is filled with tears and sadness, but there is also an abundance of love and joy, so keep reading (it’s ok, I won’t know if you skip the sad bits).
If you are a friend, a loved one, or a carer of someone traveling this road, then I hope my words will give you some understanding of what that special someone may not be able to express to you. Breast Cancer is a very lonely experience and can be very isolating. The feelings and emotions are very complex and intense and they can be difficult to put into words.
Friends, whoever you are and whatever your story, I think we can all agree.
FUCK CANCER!
Feel free to add a comment on any post or email me. I’m happy to create more conversation around this taboo subject.
Best wishes and travel well.
