I wake quite early feeling rested. Chemo on Monday went well and I had no obvious issues. I survey around me – Susannah resting on my left, the dreamcatcher in the window, the kauri outside. It is still dark. Light is creeping in slowly but for now it is still dark enough for the ruru to call.

I decide to get up. Nothing good usually comes from lying awake in the mornings. I go to the sunroom. I spend the early morning trying to relax but it’s difficult when wired on steroids as I feel like I’m jittering along and am unable to stop.

The good news today is that finally the van is ready! Sister C drives us out there to collect it and once home we spend the afternoon packing everything in it for the next adventure – our wedding.

We FaceTime with our celebrant KC and find out she has Covid. She’ll be fine by Sunday she says. I refuse to worry. Everything else that can be done has been done. We have the marriage licence, the rings, KC has organised witnesses, we’ve chosen a location. The ferry tickets have been bought. Good to go.  I can’t wait!
