I wake early with excruciating pain in my ribs and solar plexis. I take some OxyNorm and Susannah lies beside me gently rubbing my ribs. It helps a bit. Everything just feels really tight and overstretched. I guess my internal organs under my ribs are being squished by the cancer. Eventually I nod off again.

Today we are going to the Hundertwasser Art Center. Friedensreich Hundertwasser was one of those rare, mad beauties – along the lines of Picasso, Gaudi, and Dali. Artists bold enough to go against convention, against the straight line even. He’s fascinating!

I’m a doodler…this is accurate

I am in constant pain but I go slow and manage the gallery. We visit a craft market on the way there which is also good value. On the way back a woman in one of the food trucks spots my sickness immediately. I’m worried about that lady, she says. Do you need water? I say I’m ok and we stop to rest while Mum and Susannah order a fish taco.

In the afternoon we visit the Quarry Garden but it’s just too hot to walk around. We go back to the house and I rest for awhile. We have dinner but my abdomen feels so full I can’t eat properly. I graze a little. We play bananagrams and Sister C wins all but the last game, which I take out. The final game is the only one that matters though, right?
