I wake feeling tired but ok. I have a weird taste in my mouth that I can’t really describe, but it’s not very pleasant. I have coffee with Susannah but then sleep a little more. When I get up we arrange my meds and make a chart of what to take and when. There are so many, some once a day, others twice, some with food…..and of course the injection. I take the package out of the fridge to warm up to room temperature. After an hour I open it, read the directions, grab a hunk of my belly fat in one hand (there’s not much but enough to do the trick), and nervously inject myself using the other hand. It’s easy, only a quick sting, and I feel confident. I can do this. It’s only once every fortnight after all.

We have a guy coming to repair our sliding doors today. When I get dressed I make sure to put a hat on. I’ve surprised a few tradies recently by completely forgetting I have a shaved head and cheerfully greeting them sans hat. If they are shocked by my buzz cut they hide it well.

The meds are doing their job. I am able to eat marmite and toast and I can even taste it. I don’t really feel queasy. I am actually able to contemplate what to eat for dinner – that’s a nice change.

We watch FIFA Canada v Nigeria on Sky. Canada disappoint. It’s a 0-0 draw in a game that Canada should have been more than capable of winning. Oh well, it’s only the first game. Time will tell.
