I had a decent night’s sleep for once which is awesome. I wake feeling rested but queasy. Susannah doles out my morning drugs – steroids, anti nausea and anti reflux pills, plus a paracetamol. No big-gun painkillers required at this stage so it’s only a small pile.
Today we go for my final surgical follow up appointment with Dr KG. This appointment is not strictly necessary as my scars have healed well and everything is good, apart from the cancer spread of course. I do have some questions though. Dr KG is lovely as always – she comes across as caring, direct and extremely dedicated. Dr KG tells me she was at the multi disciplinary meeting where they discussed my case. This was just before I met with Dr Sk so Dr KG is aware of where I’m at but unaware of the outcome. I update her on current treatment. She is pleased and says I must stick with chemo as it is of utmost importance right now. I ask about surgery in the future, particularly on my lymph nodes as I feel the lump is growing. She examines it and assures me that she, Dr MP, and Dr Sk will work together to get me the best care they can whether that happens in public or private. I know she is not referring to cure, but I am still somewhat reassured.
