Radiation Round 10. First stop is Radiation Oncology with Dr MP. She takes a look at the radiated area and is pleased. My skin is a little red, but looks and feels ok. I’m still getting headaches everyday and have a sore neck and numbness down my left arm but Dr MP thinks that sounds like a spine issue not a radiation issue. She decides to order an MRI to check up on it. I am very surprised – it seems like in private they are happy to jump in with diagnostic testing whereas in the public system for such a new symptom I would likely wait months. Unless the C card allows you to jump the queue?
I head downstairs for treatment. I’m all set up when the scanner decides to throw a wobbly and won’t start up properly. I’m stuck in my awkward treatment position unable to move while the technicians try to reset the computer. I almost suggest kicking it to see if that helps but finally it behaves and we get going. There are no more issues, everything goes smoothly and just like that I am 2/3 through my treatment schedule.
My skin starts to really itch afterwards. When I mentioned itchiness a few days ago the nurse suggested applying a thin layer of hydrocortisone cream under the strata gel. I try this and it helps a bit.
Only 5 more sessions to go.
