I’m off to the Dentist to get a small cavity filled today. It’s not urgent, and doesn’t hurt at all, but I need it done now because of the Zometa. While I’m receiving Zometa IV Infusions, I can’t have dental treatment and if I’m needing dental work, I can’t go on the Zometa. So, to pre-empt the Catch 22 I need to get the all clear from the Dentist and then let Oncology know that it’s ok to begin the IV treatments.
It’s very weird to call the dentist’s office to book an appointment and to casually mention Oh yes, I’ve got cancer. I wonder how that information will be passed on to Jy, my dentist, but when I get there she brings it up right away so the awkwardness is over before it really begins.
Everything goes smoothly and I’m out of there quickly, armed with a new filling, some extra strength fluoride toothpaste, and a flurry of good wishes.
Another thing checked off the list gets me one very small step closer to completing treatments.
C is for Cavity.
It makes a nice change from Cancer.
